March 1, 2022 became one of the most tragic dates of the occupation of Kherson, because then about 40 heroes died in an unequal battle with the Russian occupiers.
The Russians began to enter the city from several directions. One of the directions was Naftovykyv Street from the Chornobayivka side. “Lilac Park” is located here, where the enemy was met by fighters of the local territorial defense.
40 heroes entered the battle with the occupiers without combat equipment, with machine guns and “Molotov” cocktails. The territorial defense fighters were shot with armored personnel carriers.
Even during the occupation, the locals set up a memorial to the fallen soldiers of the Kherson local territorial defense, where flowers were regularly brought.
