Ukrainians refuse to use Russian license plates at TOT

In the temporarily occupied territories, the Russians force people to get new “number plates”.

Since the summer, the occupiers of TOT have been forcing Ukrainians to get Russian “license plates”. But they are sabotaging the re-registration process. By tradition, the occupiers use blackmail and threats.

Note that according to the Kremlin’s scenario, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Oblast should become Tavria Province and become part of the Russian Federation directly, as was the case during the occupation of Crimea. Therefore, an important point is to create a picture of mass support of the population for the occupation.

One of these steps is the TVR sticker on car number plates. In order to distribute them, the occupying gang formation “State Automobile Inspection” stops cars in Melitopol and issues fines for various, including fabricated, reasons. You can avoid a fine only if you attach a collaboration sticker instead of a UA. Therefore, at roadblocks, the Russians force drivers to stick the Ukrainian flag on their license plates and demand a verbal promise to re-register the vehicle.

But in general, the situation with the occupiers is not the best, the locals are trying to oppose these demands. The largest number of cars on “new registration” are cars stolen by the occupiers, on which they put numbers in order to comply with Moscow’s requirements.

The National Resistance Center calls on the residents of TOT, if possible, to leave the territory under the control of the Ukrainian government.
