At the checkpoints, the invaders allow the holders of Russian passports to pass, while those who do not have them check their cars and personal belongings. Such a check lasts about an hour, during which locals are asked the “purpose of their visit” as if they were not at home.
In this way, the Russians hope to increase passporting in the region, because its pace is unsuccessful, for which the occupation authorities constantly receive complaints from Moscow.
