In the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia region, Russians are trying to recruit Ukrainians to what they call the “Sudoplatov Volunteer Battalion”.
The battalion was created for propaganda purposes in 2022 and has never been a battalion in terms of personnel, but rather a company of Russians and several dozen mercenaries.
The local population did not join the invaders, except for a few collaborators. As a result, two years later, due to losses and desertions, the battalion no longer exists, and there is only a criminal investigation into the embezzlement of funds for its maintenance.
However, the local occupation administration does not give up hope of recruiting at least a company to which the funds could be allocated. Therefore, the occupiers commit a crime and try to recruit the local population, which is prohibited by international law.
You can stop the policy of the Russian invaders and their collaborators by publicizing their crimes and demanding their international prosecution. You can also participate in rallies in support of Ukraine or donate to the Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
