The “large-scale” construction being carried out by Russians in the temporarily occupied Mariupol is not about restoring the destroyed housing of the local population. The Kremlin’s recently introduced mortgage program for the purchase of apartments is proof of this. The fact is that only residents of Russia, mostly from the far eastern regions, can receive a preferential loan for housing. This is an interest-free mortgage for representatives of national minorities in Russia.
For the people of Mariupol who were left homeless by the Moscow invasion, the occupiers “offer” one-bedroom apartments of 42 square meters for 6.5 million rubles, which is about 82 thousand dollars. Two-bedroom apartments start at 9 million rubles (over 110 thousand dollars), and prices for three-bedroom apartments start at 10 million rubles.
Meanwhile, this winter will once again be without central heating for the residents of Mariupol, which was destroyed by the Russians. Despite the reports of local collaborators that the heating networks are at least 60 percent ready for the heating season, this does not correspond to reality.
You can stop the policy of the Russian invaders and their collaborators by publicizing their crimes and demanding their international prosecution. You can also participate in rallies in support of Ukraine or donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
