Occupiers Struggle to Divide the Market of Smuggling and Counterfeiting in the TOT of Crimea

A counterfeit workshop producing beverages disguised as well-known global brands has been shut down in Crimea.

An illegal operation on the temporarily occupied peninsula was uncovered producing carbonated beverages bearing the logos of popular international brands. These counterfeit drinks were distributed in bulk through affiliated commercial entities, bypassing legitimate channels.

The proliferation of such underground industries underscores the worsening economic conditions in Crimea and the growing shortage of quality goods caused by international sanctions. Economic hardships have driven some entrepreneurs into illegal activities, jeopardizing consumer health and undermining the legitimate market. At the same time, internal strife among Russian-controlled services tasked with “protecting” specific contractors further complicates the situation. For example, the aforementioned workshop was closed by Russian police after it failed to provide the expected bribes.

These incidents reveal only the surface of a much larger problem. Sanctions have significantly restricted access to high-quality raw materials and equipment, making legal production nearly impossible. As a result, illegal workshops dominate the market with counterfeit products that fail to meet safety standards, posing serious risks to the health and well-being of the local population.

You can stop the policy of the Russian invaders and their collaborators by publicizing their crimes and demanding their international prosecution.

You can also participate in rallies in support of Ukraine or donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
