The Russian occupation authorities continue to impose their criminal military propaganda in schools across the temporarily occupied territories (TOT) of the Kherson region. Under the guise of an “all-Russian competition,” the occupiers, with the assistance of collaborating teachers, are forcing Ukrainian children to create sketches for future monuments to “heroes of the special military operation.” In reality, this is a blatant attempt to coerce Ukrainian children into glorifying Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
This shameful “competition,” organized by the Russian foundation “Defenders of the Fatherland,” is being promoted as an “opportunity to showcase talent.” In truth, it is yet another tool for militarizing Ukrainian children, indoctrinating them with the cult of war, and fostering hatred toward everything Ukrainian.
Through these so-called voluntary but effectively coerced “competitions,” the occupiers systematically distort young Ukrainians’ perception of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Their goal is to make children glorify the invaders, normalize Russian military aggression, and gradually erase their Ukrainian self-identity. The occupiers fear everything Ukrainian, which is why they seek to erase national consciousness and make Ukrainian children forget who they truly are.
The National Resistance Center emphasizes that manipulating children and instilling anti-Ukrainian sentiments in the TOT constitutes one of the most egregious international crimes. All those involved in these actions will, sooner or later, be held accountable and face just punishment.You can stop the policy of the Russian invaders and their collaborators by publicizing their crimes and demanding their international prosecution.
