The puppet government of the quasi-state Donetsk People’s Republic, led by “Deputy Prime Minister” Andriy Chertkov, plans to “purify” mine water from at least five mines. However, the Kremlin’s henchmen are undeterred by the fact that unauthorized pumping of mine water does not create just a local problem but poses a potential environmental disaster. It threatens nature, human health, and the stability of entire regions.
Meanwhile, the Kalmius River has turned into a floating landfill for industrial waste, household garbage, and sewage. This is happening against the backdrop of a severe freshwater crisis in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
