Russian propaganda is once again creating the appearance of improving life in Donetsk Oblast with the arrival of the occupiers. However, as time shows, nothing but devastation and death has come with the “Russian world”. An example is the temporarily occupied Horlivka and the only enterprise in Ukraine that produced high-quality explosives for ammunition and mononitrochlorobenzene, the Horlivka Chemical Plant. Today, it is a chemical burial ground. The concentration of deadly poison in the groundwater here is 150 thousand times higher!!!
Since Horlivka came under Russian occupation, the work on the liquidation of the burial site has stopped. However, the other day the Russian occupation administration shouted another promise on all its handheld media that Horlivka residents would breathe easier. After all, the facility was included in the list of the “General Cleaning” project developed by the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources. But it was only on paper.
It should be reminded that by 2014, the Horlivka authorities had done a lot, and the issue of utilizing production residues on the territory of the plant was gradually being resolved. In general, if the Kremlin had not started the war, the work on cleaning the chemical plant’s burial ground from harmful substances would have been completed long ago.
It is worth mentioning that until the early 2000s, the products of the Horlivka Chemical Plant were widely used in the coal, mining, and military industries. The company produced 25 types of goods: explosives, detergents, resins, acids, and household chemicals. 20 years ago, Horlivka Chemical Plant was bought out by a Russian businessman in order to destroy a competitor of his companies. As a result, the plant stopped working and was cut into scrap by the new owner.
It is possible to stop Russia’s environmental crimes on the territory of Ukraine only after the complete de-occupation of our lands. The National Resistance Center calls on you to help the Ukrainian Defense Forces do this effectively by donating to them and sharing the information above.
