By the end of 2024, the Kremlin plans to “passportize” all the local population over the age of 14 in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. A harsh information campaign has begun among employees of businesses, institutions, and organizations that are under occupation. People are being intimidated with the deprivation of almost any rights. From the beginning of 2025, those who have not received a Russian document will be put on a special register and deprived of the rights of a “foreign citizen”.
This forced passportization is part of Russia’s broader strategy to change the demographic composition of the occupied territories and attempt to legitimize its control over Ukrainian lands. Residents of the temporarily occupied territories are faced with a difficult choice: either to comply and lose their identity, or to refuse and be isolated from society in their native land. This policy of the Kremlin is another step towards the forced Russification and assimilation of Ukrainians.
The National Resistance Center draws attention to the fact that this process is another vivid example of a violation of international law and fundamental human rights aimed at breaking the will of the Ukrainian people. The National Resistance Centre calls for reporting collaborators so that each of them does not escape punishment for crimes against humanity. Anyone can stop the policy of the Russian invaders and their collaborators by publicizing their crimes and demanding their international prosecution. You can also participate in rallies in support of Ukraine or donate to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
