The Russian occupation administrations have announced the opening of new paramedic stations in the TOT of Donetsk region and announced a competition among medical workers. However, these loud statements hide the real situation – the collapse of the medical system, the lack of qualified specialists and the transformation of hospitals into military facilities.
The occupiers reported that they plan to build 18 paramedic and obstetric stations by 2025, but most medical facilities are either closed or converted to meet the needs of the Russian occupation army. Due to the insufficient number of medical personnel and lack of medicines, the quality of medical services has deteriorated significantly.
Medical workers are involved in propaganda activities to create the illusion of normal life in the occupied territories. In this regard, the terrorist Denis Pushilin personally uses this topic in his speeches, handing out “gifts” to paramedics in front of the cameras of the propaganda media. At the same time, medical institutions are being actively militarized. The occupiers claim that ambulances are being equipped with electronic warfare equipment, and the purchase of vehicles is primarily aimed at servicing representatives of the Russian military.
Thus, the occupiers use the medical sector as another element of propaganda, trying to create the illusion of development. This is part of the enemy’s overall strategy. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, they also launched information campaigns about “rebuilding Donbas” to hide the real problems.
Doctors who remain in the occupied territories are under pressure to cooperate with the occupiers. The announced initiatives do not improve the situation in medicine, but only serve as a tool for manipulation. The occupation administrations only create a picture of stability, although in reality the occupation means the destruction of healthcare, education and the economy in the TOT.
