Dissatisfaction is spreading among the occupiers fighting in the Donetsk region due to delayed payment of salaries. The occupiers receive their salaries irregularly and with delays. According to the National Resistance Center’s information, payments have not been made since December 2023 in some units of the Russian Army.
There are several reasons for the delays in the payment of salaries to the occupiers:
- Lack of funds in the Russian budget. Russia spends a lot of money on the war in Ukraine, so it does not have enough money to pay the occupiers;
- Corruption. Russian officers often steal money intended for payments to soldiers;
- Logistical problems. Due to the constant fighting, the Kremlin is unable to ensure the delivery of sufficient cash to the occupied areas.
Those fighting on the front line are particularly outraged. They believe they are risking their lives for nothing. Delays in payments have led to demotivation and rebellion among the occupiers. Some of them began to refuse to perform combat missions.
This indicates that the morale of the occupiers is falling. The Russian command cannot motivate its soldiers with money or ideology.
However, this can also lead to an increase in the number of cases of looting and robbery against the civilian population. The National Resistance Center calls for reporting crimes committed by the occupation forces to the Sprotyv.Bot so that the Defense Forces can strike at them.
