The Russian invaders are launching another wave of propaganda in the TOT of Luhansk region. Thus, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation reports on the “reconstruction” of the Luhansk airport in 2027-2030, and the head of the “LPR” Leonid Pasechnik added that the Luhansk hotel is also waiting for “major repairs.” The occupiers call this “development” and “return to normal life,” but all these statements are just another outright lie.
The Luhansk airport was destroyed by Russian troops during the first phase of the war and has been abandoned for all these years. The occupiers claim that it suffered “less damage” than, for example, Donetsk airport, which was completely destroyed by the occupation forces. The runway, terminals, security and communication systems have been destroyed or degraded by years of neglect. The reconstruction, which is promised for 2027, will require huge financial resources and human capital that the region simply does not have. The same applies to the Luhansk Hotel. Leonid Pasechnik boasts of “repair plans,” but does not explain who will bring life back to the facility, which has long been a symbol of occupation stagnation rather than a “hallmark” of the city, and at what cost.
These projects are not about people’s welfare, but about control and propaganda. The occupiers need the airport for military logistics, and the hotel to create an image of so-called “prosperity”. While the occupation administration promises “modernization” and “comfort”, local residents have been suffering from a lack of basic conditions for survival under occupation for years.
No one is interested in the real needs of the local population, the main thing is for the propaganda cameras to record the next “success” of the occupiers.
