Occupiers Impose the Cult of War on the Younger Generation in the TOT Through Propaganda Films

The Russian occupation authorities continue their systematic efforts to ideologically indoctrinate young people in the temporarily occupied territories (TOT) of Ukraine. In schools across the occupied Donetsk region, they have launched a so-called “film education campaign,” screening Russian World War II films for high school students.

Under the guise of introducing students to the “golden fund of national cinema,” these films present a distorted version of history, manipulating facts and attributing all achievements exclusively to the Soviet — effectively, the Russian — people. The enemy’s primary objective is clear: to instill the belief that war and service in the Russian army are “honorable duties” in the minds of Ukrainian youth in the TOT.

The Russian occupation administration (ROA) specifically targets 10th- and 11th-grade students, as they are on the verge of graduation and making decisions about their future education. The occupiers are systematically eliminating their options — just as we previously reported, students from the TOT are being voluntarily and forcibly funneled into Russian military institutions, where they are trained as future soldiers for the Kremlin’s next wars of aggression.

Additionally, after watching these propaganda films, students are required to discuss their “lessons,” stage theatrical performances, and participate in activities within the “Children to Children” program. Through this method, the occupiers create a “chain reaction” — high school students unknowingly pass on indoctrinated ideas to younger children, further expanding the enemy’s system of mass ideological influence.

You can stop the policy of the Russian invaders and their collaborators by publicizing their crimes and demanding their international prosecution. You can also participate in rallies in support of Ukraine or donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
