The Russian occupation authorities in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories (TOT) continue to blatantly violate human rights and suppress any expression of freedom of speech. In particular, in occupied Crimea, Russian forces have been detaining individuals who express support for Ukraine and its Armed Forces. Under intimidation and pressure from occupation special services, these people are coerced into making public “apologies.”
Pro-Ukrainian opinions, whether shared on social media or even in private conversations, are treated as “crimes” by the occupiers. This serves as further evidence of the Russian authorities’ systematic dismantling of fundamental human rights in the TOT, as they seek to erase Ukrainian identity and silence dissent against the occupation regime.
Such actions represent a clear violation of Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which guarantees everyone the right to freedom of expression. Yet, the occupiers continue to deliberately ignore these international norms, fostering an environment of fear and total control over the population. You can stop the policy of the Russian invaders and their collaborators by publicizing their crimes and demanding their international prosecution.
You can also participate in rallies in support of Ukraine or donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
