The Russian occupiers conducted military exercises titled “Storm 2025” in the temporarily occupied city of Mariupol. The event involved representatives of the law enforcement agencies of the so-called “Donetsk government,” as well as civilians — men who are officially registered as “reservists” by the occupation administration.
Training these “reservists” is yet another tactic used by the Kremlin to drag the local population into the war against their own homeland. After such exercises, most men do not return home but are instead sent to the front. Through this deception, the Kremlin seeks to replenish its army and prolong its bloody war in Ukraine.
In the spring, the occupiers plan to intensify forced mobilization in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Men of military age face constant pressure to sign contracts, with threats of arrest, property confiscation, or deportation to economically depressed regions of Russia.
