In the temporarily occupied territories (TOT) of the Donetsk region, Russian occupiers continue their cynical attempts to imitate “care” for local residents. In Mariupol—a city they destroyed in 2022—they have staged a publicized effort to “rebuild” apartments for those who, due to various circumstances, were unable to leave in time.
However, there is a catch: the so-called “restored” apartments are completely uninhabitable. Most repair projects in the occupied city have been halted due to a total lack of funding. Even in apartments that have already been “officially handed over,” residents are forced to renovate everything themselves.
According to apartment owners, the walls in these units are literally made from low-quality construction materials. Thin and unreliable, they resemble “paper walls” and fail to meet even the most basic safety standards.
The situation is particularly cynical, as the occupiers attempt to present their substandard “repairs” as assistance to the very people whose homes they destroyed through relentless shelling. The occupiers have deliberately devastated not only the lives of Mariupol residents but also those of other local residents who remain trapped under occupation in the TOT.
You can stop the policy of the Russian invaders and their collaborators by publicizing their crimes and demanding their international prosecution.
