To further centralize propaganda in seized cultural institutions, the Russians have assigned curators from the Federal Security Service (FSB) to oversee each museum. From now on, self-appointed directors must coordinate all exhibitions directly with Kremlin officials.
Additionally, FSB operatives will dictate museum staffing policies and scrutinize tour scripts to ensure they align with the Kremlin’s ideological agenda.
By transforming museums into propaganda instruments, the occupiers aim to rewrite history, manipulate public perception, and justify their ongoing aggression against Ukraine.
