The occupiers intend to intensify mining in the TOT

To facilitate mining in the temporarily occupied territories, the Kremlin has adopted several legal acts to stimulate the industry.

So far, the occupiers have failed to establish stable production at numerous large mining companies. This leads to downtime at mining, processing, and metallurgical complexes due to a lack of raw materials. The occupiers also destroyed most of the material and technical base of these enterprises due to hostilities. Many employees left these territories, and those in the TOT of separate districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions were mobilized into the ranks of the occupation forces.

The Kremlin has merged all the seized metallurgical enterprises in the TOT under the Southern Mining and Metallurgical Complex Donetsk (SMMC or in rus. YUGMK) Ltd. , established in 2022 and legally registered in the TOT of the Tskhinvali district of Georgia. It manages the property complexes of Yenakiyevo, Makiivka and Alchevsk metallurgical plants, as well as the Stakhanov Ferroalloy Plant, Makiivka Coke, Yasynivka Coke and Komsomolsk Ore Mining.

For the operation of all these enterprises, the occupiers lack dolomite, as well as flux and dolomitized limestone, which they intend to mine in the quarries of Rodnykovsky and Karakubsky deposits.

The National Resistance Center calls on the local population involved in these industries to sabotage the occupiers’ activities in this area. The establishment of metallurgical production is primarily aimed at meeting the needs of the Russian-backed militant groups for materials for the construction of defense lines and the repair and production of military equipment. If you know any details about the state of affairs in this area, please report them to our Resistance.Bot.
