Dam at Nova Kakhovka been destroyed last night

Apparently, the Russian occupiers have blown up major Ukrainian dam at Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region last night.

The 1st battalion of 205 brigade of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is accused in destroying the dam and introducing serious risks to territories at occupied south of Ukraine.

Most probably, the target of this critical destruction is to prevent the advancement of Ukrainian Army on temporarily occupied territories at south of Ukraine, mainly at Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Currently, the large territories downstream the Dnipro river are being flooded. The big impact is also expected on communities upstream the Dnipro where the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP), the biggest in Europe, is located. Before explosion the dam formed a large reservoir of fresh water used for cooling the nuclear reactors and for needs of local residents in the area. Now the destruction of dam looks like irresponsible and senseless act for TOT residents and for nuclear safety in whole Europe.

This terrorist act of Russian forces violates Article 56 of the Protocol 1 Additional to the Geneva Convention, Protection of Civilian Nuclear Installations in Time of Armed Conflict, and raises questions why is Russian Federation still in United Nations.

The National Resistance Center currently observes incoming information. The news is being updated.

Just to remind, earlier Russians have warned ZNPP workers on possible evacuation.
